Guardians of the Galaxy is phenomenal. Exquisite visuals, great humor and a near perfectly curated soundtrack.
I’ll have to take a second look at it because it’s so jam packed with cameos and easter eggs. At one point I got so wrapped up in the awesomeness of Knowhere being located in a decapitated celestial’s head that I missed a bunch of exposition.
This movie falls nicely alongside Scott Pilgrim vs. the World into a category of movies I appreciate 100% more because of the efforts the director goes through to ensure the music you hear makes each scene much more memorable.
I bought the soundtrack immediately and it was great to have songs that I’m familiar with transformed in my head to include imagery from the movie. I definitely never thought I’d have “Oh-h-h Child” stuck in my head for such an awesome reason.
Next time I see it will be in a proper Japanese theater. I’m really excited to see how the jokes are localized and whether they play across cultures. I’m fairly certain Groot will be the standout, particularly with the post credits scene being as funny as it is.
